About the Role
This AmLaw 50 firm is seeking an experienced Director of Revenue Operations to lead a high-performing team responsible for billing, collections, eBilling compliance, and financial systems oversight across a portfolio of complex global matters.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director will serve as the firm's senior operational authority on revenue cycle performance — setting strategy, managing escalations, and driving continuous improvement across the full arc from matter inception to cash collection.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The right candidate leads from the seat — not from above it.
What You'll Own
- Oversight of all billing, eBilling, collections, and AR functions — roughly 18 direct and indirect reports across three teams
- Revenue cycle strategy and performance metrics, including realization, days-to-bill, and days-to-collect
- Outside counsel guideline compliance program — intake, interpretation, enforcement, and attorney/client communication
- eBilling platform management (currently Collaborati, TyMetrix, and Legal Tracker); coordination with IT on integrations and upgrades
- Financial systems liaison for billing and collections modules — Aderant and Elite 3E environments
- Executive reporting on revenue operations KPIs; board-level materials as requested by CFO
- Escalation handling for high-value collections, write-off approvals, and billing disputes with major clients
- Cross-functional coordination with Practice Group Leaders, Client Relations, and General Counsel offices
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive experience in legal revenue operations, billing, or collections at an AmLaw-caliber firm
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-function revenue operations teams — not just billing or collections in isolation
- Deep working knowledge of at least one major billing platform (Aderant, Elite 3E); experience with both is strongly preferred
- Hands-on eBilling experience — platform management, compliance enforcement, and vendor relationship management
- Strong grasp of outside counsel guideline mechanics and the practical challenges of enforcement at scale
- Comfort operating at the executive level — presenting to firm leadership, managing up, and representing the function credibly in sensitive client situations
- A track record of measurable improvement: realization rates, collection cycles, OCG compliance, or system modernization
- A bias toward getting things done without waiting for permission
Platform & Technology Environment
The firm currently operates in a mixed environment. Candidates should have meaningful experience with at least one of the following and a demonstrated ability to navigate complexity across systems.
